GPT is a type of large language model (LLM), and that is a type of AI program that can analyze and generate text.
Basically, researchers build a machine learning program called a neural network, because its structure is inspired by the human brain.
Then they feed it a bunch of text so it can learn the patterns of which words generally follow other words, and eventually generate its own sentences.
And then humans test it out so they can tweak its responses to be more coherent.

What about the concerns that this AI could develop into a super-powerful artificial general intelligence, or AGI, with the ability to reason and think on par with a human?

Difference between AI and AGI

In other words, AI refers to narrow or specific forms of intelligent systems, while AGI refers to a broader form of intelligence that can adapt to new situations and tasks.
While AI systems are becoming increasingly common in our daily lives, AGI systems are still largely in the realm of science fiction, and creating such systems is a significant challenge for researchers in the field of artificial intelligence.
